Grammar You Need to Know

Where is/are…? (～はどこですか。)

• １つの場所について尋ねるときは”Where is”を使います。複数の場所について尋ねるときは “Where are”を使います。
• Where is + the place + ?
• Where are + the places + ?

Example 1: Where is the gym? (体育館はどこですか。)

Example 2: Where are the restrooms? (トイレはどこですか。)

It’s/They’re + location. (～にあります。)

• １つの場所について答えるときは”It’s”を使います。複数の場所について答えるときは”They’re”を使います。
• It’s + location word (like “near” or “next to”) + the place.
• They’re + location word.

Example 1: It’s next to the pool. (プールの隣にあります。)

Example 2: They’re on the second floor. (それらは2階にあります。)

When is/do…? (いつ～ですか/しますか。)

• 時間について尋ねるときに”when”を使います。
• When is + the event + ?
• When do + you/we + action + ?

Example 1: When is the school open day? (学校公開日はいつですか。)

Example 2: When do you have lunch? (いつ昼食を食べますか。)

命令 (Commands)

• 誰かに何かをするように指示します。動詞から始めます。

Example 1: Watch your step. (足元に注意して。)

Example 2: Don’t use the phone. (電話を使わないでください。)

• 「～しましょう」と提案することもできます。
• Let’s + verb + …

Example: Let’s go to the classroom. (教室に行きましょう。)

だれの～ですか。(Whose …?)

• 何かが誰のものか尋ねるには”Whose”を使います。
• Whose + thing + is this/that?
• Whose + thing + are these/those?

Example 1: Whose pencil is this? (これは誰の鉛筆ですか。)

Example 2: Whose books are those? (あれらは誰の本ですか。)

所有代名詞 (Possessive Pronouns)

• 誰が何かを所有しているかを示すには、これらの単語を使用します。 mine, yours, his, hers, its, ours, theirs.
• It’s + possessive pronoun.

Example: It’s mine. (それは私のです。)
